Hear ye, hear ye! #Audiobook collection of my #Demimonde trilogy is complete!

Are you an audiobook fan? Keep reading to see how to get copies of my urban fantasy trilogy through Audiobook Boom!

Narrator Kelly Pruner and I are celebrating the completion of the Demimonde in audiobook format!

WOLF’S BANE joins BLEEDING HEARTS and BLOOD RUSH in this series about an advice columnist-turned-oracle who must save her Demivampire lover from the fate that threatens each of his race: evolution and the destruction of his soul.
Like tall, dark, and brooding heroes? Like bad vampires and rock-star werewolves? Like supernatural problems and watching a snarky, good-hearted heroine trying to muddle her way through the messes those problems fling at her?

The Demimonde series is a set of emotional, exciting, addicting reads now available on audio book…so I get to listen to WOLF’S BANE whenever I’m in the car because I LOVE THAT STORY. It’s why I wrote it 😊
To help launch the set, I’m looking for reliable audiobook reviewers to help give these titles some legs. You can sign up to receive a copy of the first book, BLEEDING HEARTS through this promo link HERE (and scroll waaaaaaay down...)

Listeners who review this book and want to hear more are also eligible to receive free promotional copies of the second and third books in the series. That way, you too can listen to WOLF'S BANE whenever you're in the car because I REALLY LOVE THAT STORY!

This promo is open to both US and UK audiobook readers. The number of copies is limited so if you’re interested in urban fantasy audiobooks, don’t delay!

If you’ve read and enjoyed the books, I’d love it if you gave the audio versions a try. Kelly becomes my Sophie *hearts* so let her become yours, too.

#OctoberFrights: The Scariest Thing an Author Will Do

Welcome to Day Four of the the annual October Frights Blog Hop, organized by Clarissa Johal.

Each year, all styles of dark writers get together to rattle their cages and talk about what makes them howl. It's October, after all. This is the time of year we can get away with it...

It's a chance to talk about the scary things. So far on this tour, I've visited many of the other blogs and found witches, zombies, lurchers (sounds scary but dang it, if they ain't loveable!) and every dark chunk of human nature you can imagine.

I adore monsters. They don't scare me. They make me grin and say things like, "Aw, that's sweet. Look at those fangs!" It's not my fault. It's probably a psychological defense mechanism.

In fact, if anything scare me, it's psychological horror. The idea that something very real and very scary exists. It worms its way into my head and digs and digs and digs--

Oooh. That was an actual shiver.

I did something very scary today, something that any author no matter their genre would agree is the scariest part of our life. I hit the "publish" button.

Doesn't sound like a big deal to a lot of people, I know. But it's the build up to the button that makes it a breath-holding moment.

It all started with an email...

Earlier this year, I completed the contract on the third book in one of my trilogies and I asked for my rights back on my series. That was a little scary in itself--this was my first publisher, my first contract. I've been with this press longer than anyone else, and they've been wonderful. However, my ideas and plans for this trilogy were far more complex than a backlist status could muster. I decided to take the reins. Big, scary moment.
The Publishing Feels

The last three months were full of cover designs, formatting for print and ebooks, and the edits--lots of tension when Photoshop or Word decided not to cooperate. As the closer I got to the circled date on my calendar, the more tense and scary things got.

I think I tweaked those files more times in the last 48 hours than I have in 48 days. And when I woke up this morning, and saw that I had no more days to X off on my calendar...

I could almost hear the shrieking violins and the dun-it-dun-it-dun-it and that "Publish Now" button just seemed to pulse under my hovering finger.

What if I made a mistake? What if Kindle doofs up my files and my reviews don't transfer? What if the new covers aren't as great as people assured me they were (and I asked everyone. Even complete strangers. A/B testing should never be reserved for only the nearest and dearest.)

WHAT IF? WHAT IF? WHAT IF?

I ask that question all the time. I'm a spec fic writer so it's kind of an occupational hazard. So, I did the logical thing. I put myself out of misery. I hit the LAUNCH button.

Hmm. That wasn't so bad, I thought, and went to pour a fresh cup of tea, waiting for my pulse to return to normal...

But it's only until the next scene in this psychological thriller...The Reviewers! *shrieking violins*

Tell me, folks...what is the scariest real life thing you do, the thing that leaves you clutching your chest, gasping for breath, amazed you survived?
Leave a comment and one of you will win something grand.

But for now, it's time to get back to work on my Amazon files. I've got book listings to write! Wish us both luck...

Feels good to be raisin' hell again...#amwriting

Aw, man. I can't believe how fast the summer is flying by...

Maybe it seems that way because my day-job schedule changed drastically over the last three months. I didn't think going from thirty to forty hours a week could have made such a difference but it has really chewed the edges off my free time. And I LOVE my free time, because my free time is my writing time.

It took a few weeks, but I eventually stepped up my time management skills and figured out how to make the most of each of those non-day-job hours. (Which means I'm totally in Ghost Hunters rerun withdrawal. Trigger to the chin.)

At least I have lots to show for it :) Oh, the news...

First chunk of big news...
CHARM CITY (The Demon Whisperer #1) is available for Kindle pre-order!
I uploaded the files today (after rocking out some sweet chapter header graphics last night). This book is doing amazingly well on Wattpad.com, where it's been read nearly 20,000 times! *jaw drop* All that's left to do is work out the kinks and get some starter reviews. I'm so psyched to get this series out there!

Second chunk...
The sequel, MURDER THE LIGHT (The Demon Whisperer #2) is nearing completion!
I've been using Scrivener for this project and it's really shown its superiority over Word as far as reorganization goes. Scrivener is a huge part of my time management success, especially because of the corkboard view. Although I don't have a release date yet, I know it's within reach now.

Third chunk...let's call it a triple chunk!
The Demimonde trilogy is getting a facelift!
New covers are on the way for my first urban fantasy trilogy. I'm thinking...maybe a big release event this fall. Sneak peeks will come soon through my newsletter.

Speaking of newsletter, are you signed up? If any of these happy, happy things make you happy, too, then join up (link to join the mailing list is over on the sidebar.) As we get closer, superfans will get to see everything first, as well as have the chance to grab up review copies.

Anyways, I guess after laying it out like this, it should be no surprise that the summer is just melting away. I was actually pretty productive...and my mage exorcist, Simon Alliant, has been raising all sorts of hell.

That's my boy... *grins*

Maybe I do deserve a bit of a Ghost Hunters break today...

Listen to the Love: BLEEDING HEARTS #audiobook #review #giveaway

Bleeding Hearts (Demimonde #1) recently came out in audiobook and it sounds like Demimonde fans are very happy about it. I'm happy, too.

I'm especially happy that long-time fan of the series Sophia Rose of the Delighted Reader blog was one of the first to review Bleeding Hearts (Audio). Her review is here: Delighted Reader reviews Bleeding Hearts So glad she loved narrator Kelly Pruner as the voice of Sophie Galen... she really allowed the heart and soul of the book to shine through.

I told Sophia Rose that, with her approval, I felt like I passed a huge test :)

A quotable quote:

"This story stood up well to a re-read and I am just as in love with the world, the characters, and the romance.  I recommend this refreshing Urban Fantasy book/trilogy to those who like their vampires on the gritty dangerous side and don’t mind a slow burn romance that has some dark days ahead."-- Sophia Rose from Delighted Reader
Please take a moment to read her review (and follow the blog for more great reviews).

In fact, I'm having Rafflecopter withdrawal... how about a quickie giveaway?

Up for grabs is a review copy of the Bleeding Hearts audiobook. Would you like a chance to listen to the first Book of the Demimonde? We'll make it easy:

#FIFG14 Fall Into Fantasy Giveaway #paranormal #fantasy #adult #YA

Welcome to the Fall Into Fantasy Giveaway, hosted by (yours, truly!) urban fantasy & paranormal romance author Ash Krafton…

Just like last year, more than FIFTY AUTHORS of fantasy and paranormal books are giving away books and swag. Hope you’re ready to start clicking and start winning because the Rafflecopters await!

This year, I am offering signed paperbacks of Bleeding Hearts (Demimonde #1) and Words That Bind, my brand-new paranormal romance. Two books, two winners, twice the love.

Bleeding Hearts
(Demimonde #1)

A shy advice columnist-turned-oracle must find a way to save her dangerous demivampire lover from the fate that threatens each of his race: evolution and the destruction of his soul.

When advice columnist Sophie meets dark and alluring Marek, she learns life-changing secrets about them both—he’s a demivampire struggling to avoid evolution and she’s an empathic oracle destined to save him. Sophie possesses the rare ability to reduce the spiritual damage that causes a demivamp to Fall, making her the only thing that stands between a DV and evolution. However, as Marek's dangerous past propels him toward his desperate fate, his enemies make darker plans for him: once vampire, powerful Marek would be second only to the Master himself. The vamps want to cause Marek's Fall and they intend to use Sophie to do it.

And for those who like a little love with their magic...

Words that Bind

Social worker Tam Kerish can’t keep her cool professionalism when steamy client Mr. Burns kindles a desire for more than a client-therapist relationship—so she drops him. However, they discover she’s the talisman to which Burns, an immortal djinn, has been bound since the days of King Solomon…and that makes it difficult.

Ethical guidelines are unequivocal when it comes to personal relationships with clients. However, the djinn has a thawing effect on the usually non-emotive Tam, who begins to feel true emotion whenever he is near. Tam has to make a difficult choice: to stay on the outside, forever looking in…or to turn her back on her entire world, just for the chance to finally experience what it means to fall in love.

In order to ensure you get a book you will love, we have divided our prizes into two groups—adult books and YA books. Feel free to enter either giveaway or both. 

Final Days of the Wolf's Bane Tour...

The darkness remained at the edges, content to let the sun shine while it was the sun's proper time to do so. But night would fall. It always did. The sky turned, the wheel turned, and eventually, we turned with it. --Wolf's Bane (Demimonde #3)

We are in the last week of Wolf's Bane release tour... and the full moon is approaching once more.

I remember watching the moon as I wrote this final book in the trilogy. I'd found the coolest little app for my Windows phone and kept track of the moon's swell and wane throughout the months. Each night, I'd check the sky to see where in the Wheel we were and I'd contemplate my character, Sophie, doing the same thing... counting the days until the moon would shine full and reveal her fate. Each chapter reflects the wax and the wane of the moon as we count down the days with her.

The moon reaches full on Saturday, and in the days that follow it we'll be wrapping up the tour. There will be another Demimonde Companion story going up on Wattpad.com...this one a deleted chapter from Wolf's Bane.

We'll also be finding out the winners of the various giveaways. Haven't entered? Find the two Rafflecopters here and here, and the Goodreads giveaway here.

Demimonde Casting Call: Sebastian Stan for Rodrian Thurzo

In the past, I've shared my thoughts about who'd make the perfect cast for a movie based on the Demimonde series. Zooey Deschanel would nail our Sophie Galen, while Peter Steele would have been an ideal Mark Thurzo. (That dream is dead, sadly. God rest you, Pete.)

But Rodrian's pick was just a guy I'd seen in a Perry Ellis ad. Truth was, I hadn't found our Rodrian yet. Who was fit to wear the cufflinks?

Well, Team Rode, that's all about to change. I found my ideal casting for the role of Mark's smexy younger brother, Rodrian Thurzo.

Rode has been described as a college pin-up, as well as an Armani ad with a Calvin Klein ad waiting underneath. He's flirty, sultry, and full of the heat that makes his hazel demivamp eyes glow like molten copper. He's the body behind the Blood Rush and he is definitely forbidden fruit.

And the man to play him should be none other than Sebastian Stan.

Stan's even got the proper blood to do it... Romanian-born Stan is a Rodrian Thurzo waiting to happen.

My daughter and I had the chance to meet Stan at the Philadelphia Comic Con this past weekend and I can tell you, in the words of my daughter, he's absolutely precious. When Jess asked him if he'd hold her up bridal-style for the picture, he shrugged with a grin and said "Sure".

My daughter has not been the same since and probably won't walk on the earth for a few more days--not because she was in the arms of the Winter Soldier himself, but because this picture has rocketed her to Tumblr fame (she's got her priorities, you know.)

While Rodrian's been known to say "chicks are nicer to hold", I don't mind sharing that Stan's not so bad to hold, either. :) I bet he's a cuddler...just like Rode. I'd hire him in a heartbeat.

Being totally professional, of course. *waves to husband*

Enjoy the candy, girls, and keep your fingers crossed that the Demimonde film options get picked up before Stan retires from the stage!

Full moon approaches...and, with it, WOLF'S BANE

A full moon... on Friday the 13th? Such propitious alignment can only mean one thing... some terrifying cosmic event is readying to manifest itself.

Or, it could be that WOLF'S BANE--the third book in the Demimonde series--will celebrate its official release on Sunday.

To spread the word about the conclusion to this urban fantasy trilogy, we'll be embarking on a month-long tour until July 15.

Just as Sophie is compelled to count each day until the full moon in this latest Book of the Demimonde...so shall we.

Question is: when July's full moon arrives,
which of us will Turn?

http://www.amazon.com/Wolfs-Bane-Ash-Krafton/dp/1939056071
Join us Sunday as we kick off the release of WOLF'S BANE (Demimonde #3). Don't forget to watch Facebook and Twitter for flash giveaways, too. (I'm heavily influenced by the push and pull of the moon, so who knows what lunacy that might occur.)

So, sit back, breathe deeply, and once we're safely through Friday's full moon, we'll journey onto the next one together. Just remember...

The sky turns, the wheel turns, and eventually, we turn with it.
